So I got in my car today and it wouldn't crank at all. Tried to jump and still no crank. Drove it last night with no issues. Although i did notice a slight hesistation when i started it. All the lights come on. Security light goes off..
It did throw the P0401 last week, although I think that's unrelated.

The ignition circuit, esp on 3.0's for some reason, tend to go bad. It's where I'd start if I had this issue. Have you tried hitting the starter while someone cranks to see what happens? Can you hear anything in the cabin?
yeah but you can test the start voltage drop to see if it is working before doing anything else. It helps narrow down what is going on. If there is voltage at the starter, then the relays are fine so it is the starter. no voltage then trace back to the relays.
^ yup, i concur.
but for most people that dont ever use a volt meter,
(1)make sure battary is charged, put charger on if not sure
(2) clean and tighten battery post cables
(3)clean and tighten starter cables and give it a few smacks with the wrench (with battary cables off of corse, see #2)
(4)clean and tighten grounds
(5)try to start it with the key... starts ..good...dosent start.. go to next step
(6)CAUTION WHEN EVER DOING THIS, LOOK AND SMELL FOR GAS*** wear a insulated glove and take a screw driver and short the starter solenoid.... if crank's you know the start relay or something elce might be the issue... if no crank.. starter solenoid.(providing steps 1- 5 are complete)

Here is what you do.
Try to turn the car on by key. If it does not turn then leave the key on II position.
Take a insulated 12gauge wire and jump the 2 terminals on the starter (signal 12v which the relay sends signal and constant 12v). Do not touch the open wire when you do this or you will get a mean shock. If the car turns and starts (make sure you are out of gear if manual) then your relay is efed up. If you get nothing the starter is bad. My money is on the relay and not on the starter.
