cant get new brake pads on

First off the car is a 1997 acrua 3.0cl automatic.
so i took off the 2 main bolts and pulled off the whole piece. mind you i am no mechanic. took off the plates put the new one's on as per the instructions. now i go to put them back on and the circular cylnder (i guess it is the master cylinder) is all the way out un alowwing me to fit the enitre piece back over the new brake pads and screw in the 2 bolts.

So in the process of this I diconnected the brake line and bled out the brake line.

My questioin is now what? I gotta get this cylinder over these new pads. can someone guide me in the right direction please? Thanks

Brake jobs are always fun You do have to compress the piston that is located in the caliper. You can get a tool to do this or just put the old brake pad over it and use a c-clamp to SLOWLY compress the piston(i assume you are doing the front). Once you have it compressed it should fit over the new pads on the rotor so you can attach the caliper. Did your brake line actually rupture or just come off(prob not a bad time to upgrade to stainless steel lines). anyway your definitly gonna have to bleed all 4 calipers and add new fluid to the master cylinder in the engine bay. Hope this helps.
