C.A.I. Help! I searched all over the net!

I installed my CAI and have just one question about the hoses. The back one lines up perfect, but the front one would not reach. I used the provided hose in the kit but the stock one is supposed to just sit there unused? Please take a look and tell me if it is ok. Thanks for your time.

Also, could I install the filter at the end of the first pipe instead of all the way down to minimize the risk of hydrolocking? Thanks again in advance! Blackack where are you? Lol You know all this stuff!

i just cut the new hose and put it on the old one. it fits perfectly and it saved a lot of confussion with trying to figure out what goes where. i can grab a pic tomorrow if you want. and as for putting the filter halfway, thats basically turning your CAI into a short ram. which ruins the point of a cold air intake. the filter will be right next to the engine, so itll be taking in hot air. not cold. they put the filter so far away for a reason. if you wanted to do that then you could have bought a short ram and saved a few bucks. but honestly, if you put the bottom of the fender lining back up right, you shouldnt have any problems with hydrolocking. unless of course you go fishing in your car.

btw, not sure if you just put the pipes on there temporarily for the pictures, but if not. youll definitely wanna put a band clamp on both ends of the rubber connectors. in the pictures theres only one on the intake manifold, and then one on the second piece of the pipe. not sure if you just put it on for pictures though. just a heads up

Yeah, I wasn't finished with the install at the time I took the pics. I still have to put the clamps on everything. If you could post a pic of how yours came out that would be great! Thanks for the response!

if anything just go to a auto parts spot and get some hose and trim to fit as necessary. and hydrolocking usually happens when the intake is in water sucking it up. normal rain and small puddles should have no effect on it. in most cases.

Gonna have to cut the stock pipe back a half inch or so to have enough room to fit a piece of hose on there. Also, got a used AEM bypass on Ebay for $30. Thanks guys!
