Blown Head Gasket?

Ok, so my car overheated a little while ago and i came to find out that the radiator was cracked. So I bought a repair kit until i could find a new radiator. I fixed it and waited the 24 hours, drove it minimally for about 2 days and then I had to go to school. The campus is about 30 minutes away and I made it there fine with no troubles. Plenty of antifreeze in the car and everything. Well, I get out of class and try to start my car, but it sounds like theres no gas in it. I had plenty of gas and i'm randomly checking for problems.

So I get to the spark plugs, take em out, and the spark plugs are completely soaked in water. I took them out and had my friend start the car, and sure enough, water is blasting out of the holes.

So im guessing the head gasket is blown, since its the only logical thing that would allow water to get to the spark plugs.

So my main questions are, do yall think that it's the head gasket too?

and if it is, how much do you think it would cost to get it fixed? cause i dont think i could do it myself.

and finally, i bought the car for 3.5k and it has about 170k miles on it right now. The interior is in rough shape and so is the paint. Do you think it would be worth it to pay the cost and drive it again, or part it out and try to find something else?

check the oil cap for bubbles/milky residue. if its blown it could cost anywhere from 400-1000 depending on who you take it to, it could even be cheaper to swap in the same engine for less than 1,000.

my husband registered for this forum he has a 96 rl and i have a 99 cl 2.3 i bought the car a few weeks ago and havent been able to tear into it yet other then cleaning it... the car has done nothing but act crazy ; overheating with just steam no change in the temp and no smoke no mixing of oil and water yet i was getting hard starts and bubbling in my coolant but no drop in my overflow even once the car has pushed out all fluid well low and behold a small crack in my gasket or head!!! i spent all of my money purchasing the car and ins and registration so my husband is pulling out the head and could use a few pointers on how to make this tedious task a little easier. can anyone tell me where to find some pics or good diagrams or pointers PLEASE.

hellifino69n - Water coming out of spark plug holes is defintive proof of head gasket failure. A good head gasket job will cost $600-800. I would ask around for good Honda/Acura specialized shops and get at least 3 quotes.

runnl8t - A shop manual download. Check hondahookup.com and download the 94-97 Accord manual or later model Accord manual if they have it. This should be helpful. I would also buy a Haynes manual for your car. This has pics and should be helpful.

good manual
