ABS Light on above 10km/h and CV boot repair

Hi guys,

1) Just looking for some insight. ABS light comes on only after my car reaches 10km/h. It clicks loud once (like a relay click) and the light comes on immediately. ABS is def disengaged because I tried to engage ABS on some wet leaves. I know it is most likely the WSS because there must be some discrepancies in wheel speed and it is confusing the ABS system.

I dont need the ABS, although winter is on the way but I am interested if anyone knows what that click is? Is it the ABS module over riding the system and disengaging the ABS?

2) Noticed a 1/2 inch slice in the valley part of my driver side CV boot, def new within the week. Do any of you have any suggestions for a good repair? Repack with axle grease and silicone seal the slice shut? I dont want to f*** around with a total axle replacement.

Thanks and sorry for another essay.

i have been without abs for about 5 years. If thats the cause then just remove the abs fuse.

I was thinking of doing this. Make sure you clean the area and let dry. Use some tape that they sell at your local auto store. 3M is a good company. Wrap it up. and see how it goes and lasts.

Peace

just found out yesterday both of my inner cv boots up front are shot. fortunately no axle clicking yet...so...im also curious if the above remedy would be sufficient? how do you intend on injecting the boot with axle grease? A baster? Last thing I want to do is do a total axle replacement too...but i fear that contaminants hvae already cluttered up the boot to the point it needs to be replaced...sigh, problem after problem

Tonight I am picking up a 'split boot' CV boot replacement. It is just a CV boot that you glue together so that you do not need to remove the wheel. I am just going to drive the car up on ramps and replace from there. I still do not have any clicking yet. So I am going to remove all grease as absolutely best as possible and put 1/3 on CV joint and 2/3 in boot and then glue it back together. Flip this might work well for you too. Should work well until it starts to click...if it ever does.

Keeping my fingers crossed it survives these Canadian winters
