97 CL rough auto transmission shifting
97 CL rough auto transmission shifting
My automatic 1997 cl with 160,000 km on it shifts pretty roughly from 1-2 and from 2-3, almost like the cars getting seperated from the tranny haha
should i replace the transmission oil to help reduce wear, what kind do you recommend, what steps can i do on this downward spiral of my tranny?

Did you check to see if your TCM/ECM stored any codes? It could be a faulty electrical component.
My tranny was going nuts, with rough and erratic shifting. Since the D4 light nor the Check engine light did not blink/illuminate, I though the tranny was done. But I checked for codes and sure enough it said the 2nd/3rd clutch pressure switch was faulty. Switched that out for $50 (approx.) and it was back to normal.

Any work on the throttle body? If the throttle cable is misadjusted, the shift quality can be dramatically affected.
You might consider downloading a 94-97 Accord manual from hondahookup.com. There is a tranmission symptoms chart that is quite extensive that may help.
Sometimes a drain/refill of trans w/ Honda ATF fluid will improve performance. A 2nd drain/refill will further dilute any old fluid.
good luck
