97 cl cv halfshaft / axle replacement problem

I just spent the entire fucking day replacing pads, rotors, and axle shafts on both sides on a MANUAL trans 97 2.2 cl. I spent all day because it was an ohio car with mucho corrosion making the whole thing a monster of a bitch.

My question is this, when removing the axles from the transmission an oil pored out with the axle shaft, Not a ton but a total of about half a quart. I know I'm a complete newb, but I'm not a mechanic. To me it looks/feels like engine oil and after the install i was about half a quart low on oil. Im just making sure this is normal or if its not motor oil then what do i need to fill up to replace the lost fluid?

Thanks guys.

It's not engine oil, but differential oil. On some models, the diff oil must be drained before removing the axle shaft. You need to replace the lost fluid.

good luck

That is transmission fluid. Go to the honda dealer and buy some for about $8 a quart since you only need about 1/2 or 1/4. You will also need a pump to get it into the transmission filler hole. Make sure the car is level when you fill it. Pump in fluid until it overflows out.
