Hello my name is Don I have been driving hondas for 15 years now, I just bought me a 97 cl 3.0 auto it was a one owner car, the lady I purchased it from had all the maintenance done at the proper times, the car has 160,000 miles on it she has had the timing belt replaced twice, all fluids flused and filled when needed, when you start the car you can hear a rattle type noise,when the rpms go up it gets louder.I took it to the shop where she had all the work done and the mmechanic said something about varible valve time, or timing belt tensioner...I am lost can anyone help....thanks..CONFUSED

To answer your question, it sounds like the valves need to be adjusted and timing redone. When they did the timing belt, it sounds like they may not have changed out the tensioner pulley, which can lose spring tension over time.
