97 CL 2.2 cooling problem

AC works part time then blows hot air.....I was told it sounds like the expansion valve needs replacing. Does it make sense and save money to remove the glove box and seat then take it to a an ac shop?

Make sure you A/C fan and main cooling fans turn on when you turn on the A/C. If both fans work then I would take it to a shop to have the pressure in the A/C system checked. I believe that if the pressure is good but uneven between the high and low side then it would be the expansion valve. Maybe someone can chime in to confirm if that is correct.

look up some of the threads that people have had with A/C problems.

Sometimes it's as simple as the blower motor relay, or blower motor resistor. Can you adjust between all the settings on your hvac control and do they work correctly? Can you manually adjust the fan speed?

Do your fans come on with A/C on? Is your coolant low?
