So me and my dad have been having some issues fixing my acura since I wrecked it, and for some reason when I start it, it idles just fine but when I go to drive it, half way down the street the car just shuts down but im able to start it right back up again. My dad talked to someone and he said we should jump a wire and watch for the check engine light to flash, from what I understand a long flash means and and a short flash means 1, now when we watched for the flashes it gave us 2 different codes. First time we got 8 short flashes and 5 long ones (58) and the second time we got 8 short flashes and 7 long ones (78). Can someone shed some light onto what exactly this may mean?

Also during the process the D4 light kept flashing as well, every time I counted 7 flashes

You should post this question in the 1st gen forum.

But generally, stop by an Autozone and they will pull the code for you. That will tell you what is going on.
