97 3.0 Transmission and idle issues
97 3.0 Transmission and idle issues
I changed the transmission fluid yesterday for the second time (the first time I mixed one quart of regular dextron 3 with the honda ATF) I drained the transmission and filled the transmission with 3 quarts of honda ATF fluid.
When I got home last night I noticed the idle was higher about 900-1000 in drive. It usualy idles at the 750 mark in drive. In neutral the idle is above the 1000 mark.
when I've just about come to a stop the idle surges up to about 1500 Rpm when in drive and then drops back down to 1000 rpm.You can feel the surge.
The check engine light is off, the D4 light cycles on and off (for 2-3 seconds) when the key is in the on position. as it should.I hooked a cheap auto zone obd 2 scanner and all is clear.
There is are no obvious wires disconneted or vaccum leaks that I can hear.
The car has 120k miles on it but it is still in great mechanical shape(It hasn't been butchered or molested in anyway)It has been trouble free up in to this point
I'm pretty sure changing the fluid didn't cause this, but who knows
Sorry for the life story,
I appreciate any and all help in advance

Can't speak for Acura's as I am learning them but Bimmers and some American metal will push any contaminants to a different location when they are flushed...which is in essence what you did. Most times things will work themselves back to normal but I know some transmission guys I have talked to who say you should drop your pan and clean any filters which I don't think you can do with a CL trannie....so you may want to talk to a Acura trannie shop.
My tranny went bad at 113k and Theres nothing else I can do but replace which they are kinda pricy so it might be cheaper to rebuild or just sell the car as is...if Id at least get $1,500 for it
