1998 Acura CL 2.3 - a/c blower won't turn off
My climate control will not turn off even after pressing the "OFF" button. Fan speeds will not change, but the display works.
I've done some searching that suggest that this is caused by the blower motor transistor going out. My question is this: how likely is it that it is caused by the relay underneath the glove box (picture below?
Other threads have said to look at the transistor and see if it looks or smells burnt. Mine doesn't look or smell bad, but there is one small blemish that could be something (picture below).
Is there any chance this is a different problem before I order a $120 transistor?
It might also be worth mentioning that my transistor's stamped part number is 077200-8420, but it's listed as 79330-SF1-941 on parts sites.

I found out that auto parts stores carry the transistors, so I picked one up to test out since it would be much easier to return. The brand I got was Carquest, part number RU1130.
It ended up being the exact part that was in my car already. I don't know if this is just what Honda uses or if the previous owner bought the same part. It has a limited lifetime warranty, so I'm going to keep it and just have it replaced if it ever goes bad. I paid about $60 after an Advance Auto coupon.
