Live in Ft. Lauderdale where there is a lot of traffic. Lots of stoplights and lots of stop and go traffic.

I checked my gasoline mileage and noted that I am getting 14 MPG around town and 27MPG on the highway at 75MPH.

As a rule I try to stay within 5 to 10 MPH of the posted speed limits. and for the purpose of my test stayed out of Vtech engagement.

Only mods I have are a gutted intake resonator, K&N air filter and UR crank pulley. My CLs automatic has very strong acceleration and runs 6.2 to 6.3 0 to 60 so I do not believe that the car is out of tune.

Any suggestions out there??

 

Lighten up on the gas petal from light to light. I just did mine and was getting 20 mpg city with AC on. I drive 5 - 10 above as well but the major difference is i dont' accelerate hard to keep up with traffic. My girlfriend does and i notice a difference in the gas milage right away. I dont think i've taken my CL above 3k rpm in a while now.

When was the last time you replaced yoru plugs and wires? How about cleaned that filter?

with 27 mpg highway it sounds like your car is fine, just try not to rev higher than 2500 or 3000. i know it feels like crap at first but you get used to it.
