Josh99CL - The mod thread w/pics.

I'm going to try to include pics of everything that's going on and keep you guys updated with pics. I need an excuse to use my new point n shoot anyway.

The first thing I actually got installed was the 6000k HID kit(HIDExtra.com). I've been stock piling my other suspension/exhaust parts to have them all installed at the same time and I'll update those when it's completed.

Are you sure those are 6000k? They definitely look like 12000k or higher... VERY purple.

The camera actually picked them up differently than my eyes. I thought they had a slight pink tint in person.

The photos don't do the color justice. I might mess around with my camera to see if I can correct the color capture.

Also as far as the brightness comment. The comparison pics are vs Ultras which are basically the brightest direct replacement bulbs you can get. If I get bored I might put the stock bulbs back in to show.

According the HIDExtras graph 6000k is supposed to be diamond white... I'll quote the descriptions.
Color temperature are offered in:
3000K (Lumen output - 4000 lm) - Golden yellow
5000K (Lumen output - 3250 lm) - White with yellowish tint
6000K (Lumen output - 3000 lm) - Diamond white
8000K (Lumen output - 2800 lm) - White with blue tint
10000K (Lumen output - 2600 lm) - Blue
12000K (Lumen output - 2400 lm) - Deep Blue
Also note, the comparison bulbs in the pics are the Silverstar ultras I had in which say cook at 4100k according to the packaging.

Weird color associations for that place then. Must get their bulbs someplace weird... As far as I always remembered it was:
3000k - yellow fog
4300k - oem hid (same color as sylverstar)
5000k - pure white
6000k - light blue tinge
8000k - blue
10000k - deep blue
12000k - purple

Cameras do a poor job of color representation when shooting something very bright in a dark setting. Maybe try checking your white balance. Most digital cameras only have a setting for sunlight, shade, overcast, tungsten and florescent light temperatures. You would have to manually adjust your white balance for something like HID's.

Those HID's look like they have some pretty extreme "hot spots". Are they that noticeable when driving?

the HID's seem less bright than the ultras. you can tell just by comparing how the car in the far far background is seen in both bottom pics.

The HIDs are def brighter the silverstars are actual stock replacements so the beam throw is better. They have better coverage.

I messed with my camera some and god the color cleaned up some. This is much more accurate of the color that the above pics.

Turn sound off if you don't want to hear the car beep for 30 seconds.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gtebi...e=channel_page

You can see how they look different than the pics. The settings on the camera had some type of low light color correction turned on which fucked it up. I stripped all my camera settings down to try to get a more true color. The video captures the true color much more closely and the lights are just every so slightly more pink IRL. You can see them heat up right past the pure white and keep going and burn at some weird pink hued color (or at least it looks like that to my eyes)

that looks way to pink/purple for 6k, prolly not a lot of usable light in those compared to actual 6k's
and pink is very bad, looks funny as hell tho

^ The guy at HIDextra at least seems to be pretty serious about customer satisfaction. I think it's because it's new and he wants some good reviews posted.... anyway hes sending me a Return Auth. and is going to send me new bulbs.

Around $1750-2000 a few things aren't pictured such as HIDs, some LED bulbs, and the wheels/tires were free I only had to order 1 wheel because one was bent.

I mailed the HID bulbs back the guy is going to test them to see if I just got the wrong bulbs or a fucked up set of bulbs. I'm shooting for something more pure white to go with the cool white LEDs up front.

BTW for anyone considering it I would HIGHLY suggest the LED conversion on the front corners/parking lights. It's makes a huge difference in the looks department when you're rolling with the parking lights on. The time/cash investment is pretty much non existent as well.
