Alright...I got my intake installed finally, but a day later my check engine light came on. Do you think that it has something to do with the intake or something completely different. Dcsquirm, I live in Kendall. If you can help me out, it would be great.
Instructions on how to find out the check engine light code.
Underneath your glove compartment there is a blue connector. It is towards the passenger side of the car. After you find it must be unconnected. Once it is disconnected get a paper clip and connect one end of the paper in one hole and the other end in the other hole. Next put your key in the ignition and turn it to II (not all the way on) while the paper clip is in both holes of the blue connector. The check engine light will turn off for a second and then blink the engine code for the problem. Long flashes are 10 and short flashes are ones. Ex. you see 6 long flashes and 5 short flashes= engine code 65. If you don't see it the first time don't worry it will repeat over and over until the car is turned off. Once you get the code turn the car off. Connect the blue connector to its proper place. Go to your computer and go to niedejb's home page and look up the engine code. Once you find out your code post it up and we might be able to tell you how to fix it. Good luck heres a pic of were the blue conector is. I doubt it has to do with your intake. niedejb's home page

Hey I just put a short intake on my '97 3.0 and it seems loose. I noticed that it is sort of loose, did anyone else have that problem? I am going to rig something to hold it on tighter. Also, right before it makes a nice rumbling sound, it does a high pitched whistle... anyone else?
Glad to see some other Miami people on here!

intake
I just put a CAI on my 97 3.0 and I get that high pitched whistle sound too. I thought it was from those rubber pieces that hold the two sections together but i put silicon around them and it didnt help. I'm kinda getting used to the sound though it sounds kinda cool.

the high pitched whistle is all that unrestricted air being sucked through the new filter guys....mine does it too, it scared me when i first started the car, but open up the engine bay and stick your ear to the filter, then smile knowing your car loves its new toy!
High Pitched Whistle
I put on a cold air intake on my dad's 3.0, and I had the same problem with the whistling. It's a misserable sound, and I would have liked to keep the intake on, but the fact is that the sound was too hard to get used to. The sound is defintly just the sounds of tons of air getting sucked into the engine, but I was wondering if anyone did something to stop the noise. I was thinking about Putting something on the inside of the intake piping so restrict the air flow a bit, but then i didn't want anything getting sucked into the throttlebody. If anyone has found a way to get rid of the problem, let me know, I would love to put the intake back on. Until then, it's waaay to noisey for a 45 year old man on his way to work that just wants some extra Horses.
