seems to me *esp latelY ) that a lotta you mainland folk havent yet seen/adapted to/noticed vip cars... im surprised that it's such a big thing here compared to the mainland, usually hawaii is last to catch on to fads/etc.

maybe not regarding cars esp. japan related stuff since we're that much closer... but still im surprised at the lack of knowledge./experience from a lotta mainland peeps off of many different forums regarding bippu cars/lifestyle

It’s only really caught on in CA mainland-wise, its still somewhat of a “new” style of tuning in the automotive world. Hawaii is def doing it up big VIP wise. If you read up on VSC people report on how a lot of their local people/friends don’t even know what VIP is/why a car is modded like that. They see these cars and they and ask questions like “how can you drive that low?” “do you know that your rims stick out past your tire?” “Why do you have a huge ass lanyard hanging from your rearview mirror” etc.

Then there’s the people that have heard of VIP and VIPstyle tuning and still don’t know what true VIP is. I made some posts a few weeks ago, there was a guy asking if his CL could be “made VIP” Its sad but the definition of VIP here in the states is rarely heard, and also extremely skewed. Oh well we just gotta edumacate these folks one at a time

my ex is from hawaii, and I've been there quite a few times...and to me VIP was just a logical progression for Hawaii since not only 1) the large population of japanese people on the islands and 2) the greater costs of living/general income levels. True bippu style I'm sure is admired by many, but even buying a decade + old lexus in itself can be costly...and then compound that with the actual cost of true bippu items (authentic bodykits, brand name 18-20 inch rims/tires) and you can see how vip isn't exactly for the 'masses.' Not to say that many people couldn't vip the shit out of a lex or infinity and still have enough left over for bare necessities...but for most this just isn't practical. VIP is especially popular in the Frisco area...and well....yeah, the cost of living there is quite high.

I'm sure there are a LOT more mainland people who want/have wanted to go this route, but the funds just don't agree.

its not just the car to some (including me, im a fan of xb's in "vip" STYLE
although they're not true vip cars or platforms, its the influence that can be appreciated, if done correctly. i'd definitely rather see a well executed vip STYLED xb than some rich kid's wannabe vip F50 w/ ugly weakfitting generic 18's and no drop but all the interior accesories bought (and i have seen such cars locally)

for instance, this thing is hot.

and much sicker than many vip platformed owners who buy all the dumb shit first. all stock q45's with curtains, fusa, pretzel, and a grille wtf kinda shit.

right i know but what i applaud is the way people can take a non-vip platform and still enhance their vehicles appearance to something "outside the box" (pardon the pun...

take my TL, it's no vip car either yet i have garson curtains and some other small goodies too... its just personal pref.

damn right it is a sick xb tho !
