tie rod help?

Got a set of inner and outer tie-rods today and was wondering if anyone has done them and had any issues I should be wary of. The youtube vids I watched on other vehicles were great but my inner tie-rods are slightly different looking than others I've seen. Thanks in advance for any help. I searched also! lol

I actually started yesterday just poking around with my brakes. I removed the outer tie rod easily and found that my boot over the inner tie rod was ripped. So i took the book off to see the joint and how bad it was, since it was leaking, and I found that the inner should be replaced as well. BUT I have stopped there because I have been trying to search how easy it is to remove and replace the inners because it might be cheaper and an overall better deal to replace the whole rack and pinion.

Sounds good! The rack doctor is reputable if you decide to replace the whole rack. Let me know what you find out. Gonna attempt this regardless in the next couple of weeks on a not so cold day. The boot your saying is ripped I saw on ebay for under $10.

lol I cant get the nut to move on my outer tie rods on either side for the life of me. Either they got rusted on since my last alignment about 1.5 years ago or they tightened those things down hard. Either way I want to get them off and replace em.

As for the inner tie rod, it's not so bad, but you do have to have a special 90 degree right angle wrench attachment w/bar in order to remove and replace the nut holding it in

Any idea where to get that special wrench? Also, Every vid I've watched of someone doing the inners, that nut moves no problem for them, lol. They could have pre loosened them for the video's sake though. I'll let you know when I get to it. 20 degrees today and there's no way I'm out in that messing with the tie-rod!

You should be able to get it at any auto parts store. Here's a guide for 5th gen accords, but holds absolutely true for our CL's as well.

best of luck with the install...personally I'd soak both inner nuts with some pb blaster overnight before tackling them...odds are they've rusted on pretty well over all those years

Unfortunately no progress as it has been pretty damn cold out and I work in the driveway. Not to mention the foot of snow we just got yesterday! Will post when done though for sure! Also doing plugs, wires, cap, rotor, air and fuel filter.

Did my outer tie rods and stabilizer bushings today with a paralyzed hand in about 4 hours. If I can do it anyone can.

You must have figured it out by now, but you need 2 wrenches to loosen the locking nut. One on the nut and on on the outer tie rod.
