Short Ram Intake?

Hey Guys,

I have a 1998 3.0Cl. I've been looking for a short ram and the only one I can find is the Weapon R. I was reading and a lot of people here agreed that it was a bad buy.....

I looked at K&N and AEM to see if they made one for my model. Turns out they don't as many of you know.

So is there another company that is good or can one of the K&N/AEM filters of a older year of different model Acura fit on mine.....

Short ram intakes on a 3.0 hum and make a noise like a UFO, you're better off getting a CAI

The intake pipes are pretty much all the same, it's the filters that make the big difference.

But they all cost relatively the same....so should I get K&N, AEM or secret weapon.....

And with CAI's you can't really use them with wet areas right....

haha well im sorry if im always "advertising" for weapon R, but SUPPOSELY the secret weapon intake's pipe is different from all the other regular pipes, SUPPOSELY it makes air go through 3x faster, it could b true, it might not b, but it looks like i can.... i really dunno but i just got the weapon r anyways cuz how bad can it be? its still a pipe... and supposely it was PROVEN that air is 3x faster, and supposely somehow the secret weapon's filter is BETTER, but if anything you can but the K&N filter, but that is jux too much money, you can go research on the Secret weapon, it was convincing enough for me to buy it loll and like i said it s SUPER loud....

You can still use a CAI, define wet areas? State College isn't far from my house, and I wouldn't say I live in a wet area. You get into trouble with a CAI if you drive through 3-4 ft deep puddles or lakes, and for $50 you can get an aem bypass valve which helps protect your CAI against sucking up water when it becomes submerged. I drove through a hurricaine with the roads all flooded out and water that was cresting over my hood and had no issues because I had the bypass valve. Now normally you shouldn't drive through deep water like that anyway, but unless you live in an area that floods a lot, you shouldn't run into this issue. Also, if you get a 2 piece intake you can always just remove the lower half if you are near deep water, and then put it back on once you get across, just a thought

True. Sounds good. Is the extra money for a CAI worth in your opinion?

the best part of the weapon-R is the hum, barely anybody knows what it is. My mechanic hates it tho, It resonates so badly in the garage

whatever route you go, DO NOT and I repeat, DO NOT buy a cheap ebay kit for XXX dollars. Get a name brand one that has been tuned specifically for your 3.0l.

Do not take any advice from this guy In my opinion he should be banned for being a moron. Ok well like said all pipes are pretty much the same filter is the key. And yea all ram air intakes on a 3.0 will humm. Hell I like it makes it sound like a beast under the hood. And all you need is a bypass filter like said. HAd one back in the day on my accord and went through hurricanes and no problems.
