DIY LED lisence Tag bright white light.

hey guys, so i got my leds in today.. and took a few pics to make a Smal DIY. its super easy.. and it takes about 7 minutes.

1. u need plyers, phillips head, flat head, and lights lol

2.take off the screws that hold the light onto the bumper

3. take off the two screws holding on the light cover

4. its good to clean the light cover as well with soap and water.

5. pull out the stock light bulb... i used plyers very gently because the bulb was deeper and slippery. the bulb wil slip right out with plyers.

6. put the new Led bulb in. [have ur lights on cuz the prongs have to be on each certain side.]

7. screw cover back on.

8. screw the light housing back onto the bumper.

9. ta dah! pimp ass led lights like the lexus's have. (they are Much Whiter then the picture looks.) this was taken in day time with teh garage closed.

i hope this gave some motivation to order a set of bulbs and DIY.

heres a link to the bulbs. it is liek 10 bucks.

note* this was done on a 2003 acura CL type-S

Plus ours don't have "light covers" and you don't have to unscrew the sockets, ours just pop right out, and they're 194/168 wedge bulbs just like these, wrong forum, but right idea, thanks for the diy

Hopefully someone uses it

I know u don't have a CL anymore but wanted to straighten this thread out with correct info. They're wedge bulbs, and I've changed them 3 times. All you have to do is reach behind the light housings and twist the rubber stopper and pull out, then put new wedge (194/168) bulbs in and reinstall the wire harness and stoppers.

Mascot, you can get led bulbs from www.superbrightleds.com or ebay.

Help with what? And yes, ours have 2. The 2nd genners have 1. Mine was pretty rusty when I did mine too.

Here are my results with 2 1x 180 degree white wedge LEDs.

I never knew that there was a DIY on this. It's so easy you don't need a DIY on it really..

You don't even need to unscrew the mounts, but if they fell off get new screws

Mounts? There are 4 holes in the bumper that the screws go through. There isn't really a "mount". Take a pic.

i dont have a picture at the moment, but those screws rusted, so i cant even take them out, i went to take them out and when i twisted the screw everything just turned to rust particles and fell all over me going to have to think of something clever to get them off

Are you trying to replace the bulbs or the whole mounts? The bulbs come right out if you twist the rubber attached to the wires holding the bulb in the holders

just to let some people know, if you are really lazy like me lol i just stuck my hands like into the space on top of the license plate (there should be a VERY BIG gap or hole w.e u wanna call it and if you push ur hands back towards the engine direction you can feel the wires for the license plates lights, so all i did was just twist and took out the lighting bulb, replaced it and blindly put it back in and twist, took me like a quick hot 3 mins lol but i requires SOME luck but if you don't wanna do it then i guess unscrewing the bulbs will work but yea that is just the way i did it. but i think it is also because my wires were loose so i don't really know but good luck to those who are gonna try this method i guess.

That's what I did, hence my argument above 2 years ago that you don't need to remove them

When I removed my rear bumper trying to fix a dent on my car after I was hit, I broke of the housings of the license plate bulbs because I did not know that you could twist them off. Anyway, I still haven't found a way to mount the license plate bulbs and I found this on Autozone (pic below is similar, costs around $15). I mounted them on the two top screws, and there you go, my own LED license Tag bright white light! I will post day/ night pics soon. It looks decent, I personally like it.
