Decent Brake Disc and Pad Combination

Hey guys,

I am trying to replace my rotors and pads on my 1998 CL 3.0 and was wondering which brand combination works best - AC Delco, Hawk, OEM, or whatever????

Would appreciate some feedback and suggestions. Thank you in advance.

qhar,

The answer to your question depends on your individual needs and driving style. Do you plan on tracking your car? If so then you can't falter with Hawk Pads.

If you plan on just keeping your CL as a strictly street scrapper that occasionally sees some serious canyon carving then you cannot go wrong with OEM pads and rotors. The OEM pads are actually not that wretched on the CL. I've seen some of my customer's get as much as 80,000 miles off of them! I would also recommend this set-up if you're on a tight budget too, as a replacement OEM front pad kit will only set you back about $43 or so.

I'm sure others will provide a different opinion for you to consider

Since i did my rotor over hub conversion on my 97 2.2cl, i buy cheapo rotors (AC delcos) that i paint with high heat black caliper paint, as soon as they rust, it takes no time to change them.. Since i live in Canada, our rotors do rust fast :-), but the black paint helps alot to push back the rust a little.

Pad wise, i use ProMax ceramics, they brake really well, they are cheap and they last for ever!
