2.2 budget intake??

So I don't have the money to spend on a whole new intake, so i was wondering if it would be possible/worth it to take out the air box and whatever is in the bumper, and just attach a k&n to the end of the stock intake? What would be the best direction to go if not. What are some other budget ways to make my car faster/sound better than stock?

Wait untill you have the money and get yourself an intake( cold or short) of good quality and have it professionally installed.
