you guys driving around slammed... what is the functionality in that?

i have like... 3 finger gap on my wrx to allow the nicest suspension travel and i also dont have to slow down for dips/potholes and shit like the usual ricer cut-spring civic i see... so yeah, isnt it inconvenient?

your boat = your vehicle that is not lowered.
your vehicle that when you take a hard turn rolls [tilts, hovers, leans etc.]

ok... that will obviously make my car much slower than your CL huh, i guess its a huge factor.

and i am lowered, just not slammed like you guys. im sure you guys are running some of the more generic coilovers out there (ksports, d2's, tein basics/ss/ssp's, omnis) so its not exactly stiff as fuck... when you guys turn you will also lean. just because you have a slightly lower center of gravity does not mean your car will run flat and have a lot less body roll. but, however, because you guys are dropping your car a large amount, you have less room in your wheel wells so you will actually in fact be rubbing your tires against your control arms and everything

not to mention you guys talk about how you bottom out going 80MPH on the freeway, lol. if you bottom out going on the freeway, how can you expect your car to handle better than a WRX?

and starboy, are you saying you can hang with a subie in the canyons with your FWD heavy ass CL? lol... i dont mean to disrespect anyone here, just wondering what makes you think you guys know more about anyone else when it comes to suspension.

the ricer motto for handling has always been "the lower i go, the better i'll handle"

that phrase couldn't be any more wrong. however, i know some members on here (like klepto for example) who are more into show than go, i have no problem with their ride being slamed since they are not stressing the factors it has with handling enhancement. however, for someone that is slamming their car and then calling my wrx a "boat" is pretty ludicrous

whew that was a long post! my fellas

sorry, but i have to agree with the other guy.

his 3 finger gap WRX will out handle your slammed CL dippin at 80. and he has a point. there really isnt much function to THAT low. dont get me wrong, it looks dope as hell, but its not necessary.

perfect example, actually.

tonight i helped my friend install stock STi shocks/struts on his WRX wagon. he had previously been running on stock shocks and skunk2 springs. while the skunk2s made him tuck tire, and the STi suspension gave him about a 2.5 finger gap, it's stiff as FUCK and by FAR out handles how it did with just a lower center of gravity. its all in the shock travel and spring rate, not how low.

^ yeah if you're riding a subie, you definitely have to know your suspension components... for example i installed an anti-lift kit... wow wut a difference! and it didn't involve me dropping my car =P

My omnis are stiff as fuck and my bumper is like 2 inches off the ground, course I have a full polyurethayne bushing set, upper and lower strut braces, and sways. Now that's a stiff ride

wood: its cool. i think i strayed away from your point by adding suspension components instead of the ride height... eh its cool....

just becuase we drive lowered Honda Accords - it don't mean shit

soo many cars out there can out handle us.

I'd take a WRX any day over my slow as shit CL.

being that low definately scores PIMP points though

sorry, I know I may come off as a CL-hater

don't get me wrong, I love my CL....but not as much as others man

I'm lowered as well, but I know my car will get spanked in handling by soo many out there. A stock E-Class Benz owned my ass on a hwy onramp, and I"m running Tiens and Sus Tech sway bars

Not you Rajin..the other cat Woody and by the way the WRX isnt that god all of handling and you are comparing apples to oranges a luxury vehicle to a car built for autocross. The WRX aint that quick unless its modded ..

im a friend of an ex-member and was helping to sell stuff.. and i just thought i'd voice my opinion on this topic, no offense intended.

and you don't know anything about me or my car. i have my car modded to sti status, cept the brakes, and if i recall correctly, i remember you said something about how you got your coilovers to drop it only, not that you were going to "hang with an sti on a turn" so don't tell me that my car isn't that great of a handling car if you had used an sti as a measuring stick of handling capabilities.

and trust me, my car is quick, and its modded.

Never said my car handled the best and don't expect it to. You basically saying all these guys are dumb for slamming their cars because it will never handle like a Subaru but do you have leather, heated seats & mirrors No offense the WRX & STi are great cars for what they are built for but the ideal Subaru is the Legacy GT because you get the whole package as you do in an Acura.

Even though my car is slammed, it still handles pretty damn good. At the last Bay Area Acurazine meet we went flying through some twisty mountain roads and I could definitely keep up with the blown TLs and RLs even though they had 150+ hp on me.

I know I would get my ass handed to me by a LOT of other cars, but the Cl wasnt made for racing anyways

i agree with you clplatano, diff cars for diff purposes... i never said they were stupid for slamming their car, i just wanted to know the functionality in doing so. if all they said was "yeah its just for looks" then i'd just leave it at that, but then one of the members here called my car a boat for having a 3-finger gap and that his car was better at handling because he was "slammed"

that kinda annoyed me cuz its just ignorance right there. everyone knows that you should have atleast 1-finger gap just so you don't have any problems with bottoming out or scraping (for those who are interested in suspension and handling that is). i never brag on klepto's car or any other car out there because they are dropped becuase they aren't pretending to be a handling machine, but just a pimp car for daily driving. i just didn't appreciate starboy calling my wrx a boat, thats all.
