Your Cold Air Intake and your impressions!
Hello all!
I just took off my previous CAI (A friend gave it to me but just got a 97 Accord and wants it back).
It was an AEM V2... and I've heard it's the best out there.
Since my expenses are very limited, and technically, it's my brother's car, I wanted to have the impressions on the different CAIs you guys out there have.
Would a cheapo $10 CAI off ebay do the same job?
I was going for this one:
1.
or
2.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-97...50287261QQrdZ1
Will 1 or 2 have their intakes 'plunging' under the engine or will be visible from atop?
Thanks for the advice, feedback, pictures and advising guys!
S.

I have made extensive searches, and I know which kind to buy. i've extensively read the noob guide and made, once again, a lot of searches.
It seems, however, that some intakes and kits have the filter hiding 'under' the engine, and some others have a setups that keeps the intake visible, sitting somewhere visible and nice, which I would like.
I wanted your takes on it, and pics too, if possible

I have an ebay one, $16 shipped and it makes the car sound so much better, gives a little extra umph. I'd agree with everyone here, ebay intake with K&N filter, $50 cai system and just as good as a $200 AEM V2 IMO

CAI's dip into the fenderwell, SRI is usually visable. Here's the difference on the 3.0 at least, the 2.x's i think some cai's are also visable.

I had a 3.0 and made a video when I had just gotten my intake:
1st Gen 3.0 w/AEM CAI
7th Gen Accord 6MT
1st Gen 3.0 w/AEM CAI
7th Gen Accord 6MT

I have AEM V2 on my 3.0
IMO, we're paying the money for AEM's R&D and the CARB stickers... If you live in a place with anal cops like Irvine, you would save much more (tickets/ court fees...) if you have that CARB sticky...

indeed :-)
I just purchased, a minute ago, an SRI off ebay. I will wait a little more should I decide to buy a K&N filter.
I hope I will feel the little extra oomph on lower-end RPMs.
Seriously, I've read so many posts of many forumers saying CAIs and SRIs are bullshit and don't do a difference. So why is it that each and everyone of you has one? LOL

my CAI looks like that SRI...at least when I bought it they told me it was a cai...
And I have cai and a header and you can feel a difference, once I get an exhaust it'll be alot better, everything bolt-on adds a bit of hp so that when you do a few together, you get some noticeable power

I love my Ebizzle SRI. It has a nice sound to it. I know that I paid 1/4 of what some paid and I know that they do the same exact thing. So i'm good...

I was like 99.99% positive it said Cold air intake tho...yea, I think it was similar to the one that you had but I remember yours saying short ram and mine saying cold air
Edit- I figured it out. It says air flow intake, it doesn't specify cold air or short ram, so I guess you just have to know by the picture.

Like where to get parts (excelerate, mrheeltoe...), body/lip kit, exhaust setups (pipe diam., res....), inter-changeability with other cars (honda parts, legend calipers...)
We can add some other things like recomended mechanics/body/paint/performance shops in specific regions, etc.
I can think of a lot of things to put in there. If we can make the noob guide an informative one, people would more likely read it JUST FOR FUN...jkjk

ALl those other things you mentioned, can be found with a very simple SEARCH
Oh, and I think the legend caliper swap is mentioned in the n00b guide isn't it mitch? As for body shops and such, that's too much info, considering n00bs come from everywhere. Maybe we're up for a review of the n00b guide, more suggestions would be good, but a lot of those are already covered if i'm not mistaken.

Brakes
Rotors are from 94-97 accord.
Dual piston calipers can be fit into car. Parts needed are Calipers from a Legend. Rotors are from a prelude. 2.2/2.3 needs bracket from 3.0CL, Legend, or 94-96 vtec prelude. Adding this will give you larger rotors and dual piston calipers for greater stopping power.
NOTE: the 97 front rotors are a hub-over-rotor design which means that you'll need to get them pressed on and off with a machine. Most places charge $200+ for this kind of job. Just FYI.
