WTF! My sidewall melted and exploded!
WTF! My sidewall melted and exploded!
I was driving down the freeway on my way to go see a movie with a friend, and I heard this weird sound, it sounded just like a Harley or something. Then she says wtf is that smell? Its like a burning smell, and the car starts to pull to the right. So I get off the freeway and pull into some dude's dirt driveway. The rear tire is completely flat, within the time of less then a minute. I jack up the rear and take off the wheel, expecting to see a huge nail or something, and find this on the inside sidewall

WTF!! There was steam and shit coming out of it too. It looks like there was some tread seperation or something, and it caused the sidewall to melt and blow out in one spot. Its not like I even hit anything, or something under the car punctured it. It just blew out randomly.
It was a brand new fucking tire too, its been on a week and they werent cheap either ($105 a piece)
. I better get a refund for this shit

45 series is rather low profile. if you have low-profile, you might have had a leak and you didn't notice it was flat since its low-profile, hence you were driving on a flat. you probably got some heavy sidewall damage. i had the same problem with my neova's ($250 each) and had to cop a new one.
you should check your tire pressure weekly, thats what i do.

I hope so, It was a defect in the tire. I looked at that wheel before I left and it wasnt low on air at all. Plus I could see another area on the sidewall where it looked weak.

some better pics, you can see little chunks fell out first. And theres a bit part of the sidewall where it was warped

btw, I know the rim is dirty. Thats the way I got it, its pretty much baked on there
