That sucks that you got screwed but you should have known to do the carfax before buying the car, not after.

works well here.

sorry to hear that yo.

2800 is still a hell of a deal for a first car... especially if it looks clean for having 191xxx miles on it...

LoL. I personally know the moderators from SRT-4 form when they use to own them, I know quite a few track guys from the Evo forums, and well, as for Hondatech, who gives a shit. If you talk to anyone that knows a thing or two about building cars, shinney's story is very believable. I just think you truely dont know shit about cars in general except for what you read in magazines. I truely dont believe you have any experience with modded cars at all.

Tell me this, would you believe that a d15 engine with a stock bottom end can run 10's? And just to let you know in advance, it's been done... Rage motorsports are the ones that hold that record in their crx. Jason is the owner of the shop btw...

And honestly, no one would give a fuck if you posted the thread in those boards. They go to their boards to read about their cars, not ours.

if you know about weight and hp, 220hp on a 4cyl on a 3000lb isnt going to break 13's

how the hell does that make sense, theres tons of car pushing more hp,less weight and they're barely breaking 14's

Have you calculated gear ratios in your equation? And it's 220 to the wheels. Making it roughly 260-270 to the crank. Roughly the same as an Evo's crank hp and roughly the same weight. They pull 13's easily. Now, I'm not comparing the CL to an Evo saying it's the same shit, but look at the power to weight ratio of both cars (shinney's in this case, not a stock CL). Pretty similar. Nevertheless, anything is possible, something you cant seem to understand. His last set up ran him a 14.09 I'm more than sure he can run a 13.9 with his new set up, with the right outside temp, with the right tire pressure, with the right 0-60ft time, with the right tunning, with the right stuff out of his car. We're talking about a difference of less than 1/10 of a second for him to break into the 13's. It can be done...

Which ones? Modded or stock? Maybe their tune like shit. I'd like to see their torque curves on those cars. You're still talking about crank power arent you? Where do they put all that power? What kind of drivetrain? What elevation? Experienced driver or rookie? What cars are you talking about?

the closest thing i can think of to shiney's car is the mazdaspeed mazda6 and srt4's
but 220whp is about 165 to the crank, but he doesnt have much power mods to support the n2o, just his lightweight tranny, and h/i/e

Yea, they also have a higher drivetrain loss because of it. But, I used them as an example simply because of the power to weight ratio being rather easy to explain. Not accurate, but roughly the same.

for example, i saw a civic with an f22 turbo swap, running a 14.7, now the civic is much lighter than our cl especially since shiney has the premium package

Did you mean to say 265 crank? You're doing it backwards I believe, unless it was simply a typo. 265 crank hp would be roughly 220whp with a drivetrain loss of roughly 16%. Just a rough estimate, most likely a bit higher but again, just a rough estimate for easy numbers.

Anyways, he has more than that. By far, way more. And tuning is everything. I believe his car is tuned as well.

I'd like to see his dyno. He's shit was probably tuned like shit. And which f series engine? Why would they go from a d series to a f series. Seems a little odd. Plus, I'd need way more info to see as to why he may have run those numbers on the track. It isn't always just power/weight ratio all the time. A lot of other factors come into play when dealing with drag.

look at the trap speed for the guy about 96mph, and he ran a better time, so why would the quartermile calculator be acurrate?

Again, there are a lot of factors that come into play when dealing with drag. Power to weight ratio is more of a platform.

Like shinney said, looking at the trap speeds does help in determining what the car is capable of if traction was an issue. I have a friend that run's low to mid 13's in his EK, trapping at 120mph. We all know that's a 12sec car easily with traction.
