manual or auto doesn't really matter to me anymore
either one of these would have enough performance for me
about the only thing I would do to either of these two is maybe some new rims
I think I would like to get back to a 4 door....so I would probably look around a little more to see if there is a 330Ci out there to choose from.....I just happened to see this 2dr 330Ci over the weekend

The 1.8 A4 motors are crap on reliability.
I think you already know what I'm going to answer.... BMW. The 330ci is bigger as far as interior space. It has a back seat, the 350Z does not. It's a cushy, comfortable car. You can have tons of fun with it, and still feel pampered. Test drive one, wind it out. Once you go inline 6, you won't want to go back.

yeah, I got to have a back seat.....not that mine gets used alot, it's just more practical to me
also, I don't do the performance kind of mods (as you can see from my sig in the 1st post)
so I really haven't considered the 1.8 A4.....doing the chip, turbos, etc......I'd rather just start with a nice smooth 6 cyl and get it over with

my car is paid off - just turned over 80k - going on 6+ yrs old
I should be virtually debt free by Feb....so I'm getting that itch to get something newer.....maybe within 2005 I'll choose something
these are really the only 2 models I've been considering.....and as of now, my budget will have to be less than $25k when I do make a decission

wrong about the 1.8T,
it's one of the MOST reliable motors.
a large batch of coil packs (80,000) made by stanley(?) for the VW and Audi 1.8T were recalled due to Stanley's fault. This is the only known recall for this engine. It's been around for 11 years now, 9 in the U.S.
ranked 8 years in a row for "10 best engines"
in Europe, it was even considered in Nobel Science category for such high output of power and such low emissions.
Only problem you hear with these motors now are the 17 years olds that throw chips in the 1.8T that are too agressive for the little mods. they do, the engine either burns too lean or too rich, and it craps out.

And BTW, that bimmer is overpriced, 4 year old retail on a 3-series manual is 42-44%, with low miles.
New I'm guessing was around 35,000-37,000 so one should be priced around 14,700-16,500.
And it's been redesigned, that never helps.
But it's damn beautiful!

if that car was 14,700-16,500 it might be in my parking lot right now
I've never seen an '01 or above 330 in my town for that low of a price unless it was a salvage or has about 100,000+ miles on it
.......maybe we need more than 1 BMW dealer in this town for some compitition

here is the same car with alot lower mileage, is automatic, and clean with same wheels, options. asking $24,500....private seller, they always sell for more is the general assumption, right? so imagine this at a dealership which could be had for maybe 22-23K....for starters.

We have a 2004 1.8T A4 6M, and it's completely amazing. I love it. It's a lot better than my 98 CL 5spd. I'm actually trading the CL in for another A4 very soon.

I love the car. Torque everywhere. Handling wise... well... it's a BMW. It tracks out of corners so nice, and it's better not having to fight that torque steer.
Like I said.... go test drive, you won't be dissapointed.

Anemic motor.. chipped or not, it was still slow. The coil packs were a tad annoying, the car had all sorts of electrical problems, and some problems with the turbo that kept the car in the shop for a month. He wound up getting pissed and had Audi NA buy the car back.
Like aI said tho... nice car, just leaves something to be desired.

how about a 1998 M3 for 15K?

I'm done with this. Intelligence
Edit: You were clever enough to post my age, yet you still blame me for living in a state that couldn't pick the right president? I thought that with all of your infinite internet comedic genius, you could have at least been able to understand that 18 is voting age.

both payments would be about what my CL pmnt was.....between $195-230/month
