Would YOU buy this SUV?
PATHFINDER
98 pathfinder LE, 46,000 miles, asking $13,500
i carfaxed it and it came back with an accident, got the police report and the lady was spoken to and it turned out some guy ran a stop sign and hit her (it was in a 30mph zone), no tow for either car. She said it was $2000 worth of damage and they replaced the front fender. My dad talked them down to $11,500-$11,900 (still waiting on the final call)
So my question is, would you buy it?
I'm wary of a car thats been in an accident but then again i got into one with the CL with 4K worth of damage and my car had to be towed and it still ran fine with no problems
Sorry for the long winded post, I just dont want to fuck this up

if you want a suv i would seriously look into something else other than a pathfinder
look at a 4runner, pre-runner, or a jeep, the cherokees are nice, i had a 90 cherokee and i loved it

a 98 pathfinder LE with 46K miles with body damage would trade in at a dealership for roughly 9800-10,200. Allowing for dealer to recondition the car and clear all paperwork, and to make a profit--remember a dealership is a business and business is about profit,---if you pay 11,200-11,500, it's a fair deal.
oh and if their "doc" fee is more than 200 bucks, gripe about it and make them compensate by lowering the selling price the difference.
Doc fees are O.K. to pay, as long as they are reasonable. They actually DO have a purpose, b/c the dealership pays a service to insure all DMV paperwork and titling to be correct, so if there is a problem then nothing comes outta your pocket. It's kinda like doctor's malpractice insurance. Also, the pretty little ladies working the accounting dept. at dealerships gotta get paid too, ya know.

ever see those "crime buster" videos? some shops were caught on tape taking sledgehammers to customer's cars to get ins. money...its soooo funny to watch!
Honestly . . . don't do it!
My Uncle bought his Pathfinder, and within 6 months he desperately wanted to get rid of it. It's way under-powered, has been in the shop repeatedly, and he's willing to take a finanical loss, just to be done with it.
He's been trying to sell it for about 3 months, and had no serious buyers.

thanks for all the opinions, I talked it over with my parents and decided to get it although it is still going to see my mechanic tonight - I've been looking around for awhile and this is just the perfect combo of years and miles that I can afford
Yea Dust I also heard about people saying it was underpowered and I would love to get the newer ones when they upgraded the engine but I got no money. And about them sucking I guess some people get lucky and some dont, like your uncle, that blows - My other choice was an Explorer and I've heard worse about them so hopefully this will all work out
Hell if the CL had a higher resale value I coulda got a new/nicer SUV
