Wood Steering Wheel Pictures !!

Hey Everyone !

I just installed my wood/leather steering wheel today. It matched up perfectly and looks great. As far as I know, I am the only one on this forum with pictures of a 1st generation with a wood wheel. The wheel is for an MDX, and I got it off ebay for $200.00. The install took about 30 minutes. No big deal !!

Looks great
Did you do the install yourself, and do all the controls work?

If that shit was carbon fiber or Sparco type seude I'd hop all over it. Too much wood as is in the car I think though.

As far as I know the wheel is for 2001-2002 MDX's. The only difference in the MDX and the TL/CL wood wheels is that the wood is thicker on the TL/CL wheel and the colors I think. These wood wheels will only fit the 98-99 CL's b/c of the horn buttons, and I think the airbag looks different also--not sure. The color on the MDX wheel is called saddle. It is actually a little darker than the parchment in my car, but it really blends in well. I just happened to come across this wheel on ebay and I jumped on it being that they are $500 at the dealer. The TL/CL wheel would have probably matched better, but you just can't find them out there for a good price. The install is really easy--use the same airbag and all of the parts, just transplant them on the new wheel. The guy I bought the wheel from sent the Acura instuctions on how to install the wheel. I would think that the TL/CL wheel would fit fine also, but never saw a pic of one on a first generation CL. The Acura dealer told me that the MDX wheel would not work on my car, but I knew they were full of it !! No one had tried it I guess ! I need to send them the pic. HA. HA.

That looks great. I have been wanting to do it for so long but need to figure out what to do with the horn buttons. Good job
