Windshield wipers half working...?
Windshield wipers half working...?
I have a 1997 CL and I am moving to Washington in a week, where it rains quite often and my windshield wipers are only half working. They work if I just push the lever down, but if I let go, they stop in the middle of the windshield. I have to hold it down until they are back down. If I just turn them on regularly, nothing happens. They also don't work when I am using the washer fluid. Do I have to replace the whole wiper motor? About how much will this cost to fix? Has anyone else had this happen? Thanks in advance!
It does not sound like the wiper moter is to blame. The multi-combo switch for your wipers could be bad. This is the lever you use to turn them on and what not. These will fail on occasion if they are handled roughly or if there is a lot of humidity in your area. The cost varies... I got one for my old civic for like $60, bu taking the wheel off and all that was not nearly the hastle it will be on the CL, because of the SRS, (airbag). It could also be that the wiper relay circuit has faulted. Have you done any work involving the harness or electrical system... Or did this just stop working?
I just bought the car from a private seller. They didn't work when I bought the car. I don't know how long they haven't been working... I have been told it might be the relay circuit. I haven't done any work on the car as of yet.
