Window tinting help... opinions wanted
Window tinting help... opinions wanted
Ok so heres my dilemma...
I want to tint my windows. I initially wanted 20% all around. Now, usually my parents don't care too much about stuff I do to my car, but they're dead set on not letting me get illegal tint which is anything darker than 35%. Also, I can't even try to trick them cuz the guy said that in order for me to get anything darker than 35% I have to be 18 or have a parent sign. I have a black car with dark gray interior. I don't think 35% is gonna look dark enough because of the black car. Opinions on whether I should just say f it and get one of my 18 year old friends to do it for me or just do the 35%...
I've even thought of doing 35% in the front and then 20% on the back two and the rear window even though thats still illegal and I'd have to get a friend to do it.
Thanks

Either wait until you're 18 or get 35%... honestly it's not gonna look like limo tint but it's going to look better than it does now.
You sure it's not legal to tint the rear 3 windows? AFAIK, in a lot of states its alright. I was planning on doing 35% on the driver/passenger, and 20% or 25% on the rear three.

Ooooh... I might have just talked my parents into 35% in the front and 20% in the back...
I've seen this on other cars but does anyone know if it'll look awkward on the CL? Because everytime I've seen it, it looks cool

no... do not get two different shades of tint, it wont look smooth, and you have dark interior so the tint will look better, 35% will be decent, when your looking at the car from different angles at different times of the day it will look alot darker than 35%, you wont be disappointed, its not worth the tickets, you have a black car, black rims, you prob get enough attention from the law, i regretted 20% although it did look good..

35% pulled out some old school pics from 2 years ago
2 days after I got it

More reccent

35% vs 30% on sides and double 25% on back of other car

35% all the way around, I wanna go darker, but I don't want the cops to mess with me, they've never given me a second look with 35%

I was going to post pics of mine, but this pic that blackack posted sums up what your tint will look like if you do around 20ish in the back and 30ish in the front:
If i could do it all over again, id get 5 all around and not care what the cops say. Cause at night..tint is tint. They dont care what percent it is, trust me. Your tint will look dark at night. I got pulled over at 4am simply cause they could. It's just another thing they can harass you for so its really up to you. I look at it as, at night time, pulling you over for tint is almost the same as pulling you over for a light being out, they just wanna see what you're up to, where youre going or what youve been doing. i.e. drinking, etc.
My back window is 2 layers of 25% so its pretty much 5. when i got pulled over he asked me to put my front two up, which are both 30% cause he didnt even know if i had them tinted. He just assumed. I didnt get a ticket though. Now if they were 5% up front, he probably would have ticketed me. It all depends on how much you want to get harassed or how cops are in your area. I know in pennsylvania we have no set laws. Its pretty much up to the cops. Which sucks, but im pretty sure the back 3 windows can be as dark as you wanna go.
good luck with the decision, personally id go with 20 all around, itd look cleaner. spliting percents like i did isnt bad either, i just wish i would have went darker in the front.

im more for consistency, id get all the sides one shade, and the back can go as dark as you want, that one doesnt matter. . . here in Texas you can paint that shit Black so long as you have side view mirrors

I have 35% all the way around. It isnt that bad. Mine is white of course though. Im thinking you can slip but cops with like 20-25%. Wat are they going to peel a piece off and go test it?

ya when i got pulled over he asked me to lower my window and he slid this machine over the glass and it read 15% which was wrong anyway, i had 20% but it made no diff cuz i can only have 50% in the front.. i tried to tell him my regulators were out lol

Danil ACE: Yeah, you probably should.
I got 5% all around and I used to love it, but now I wish I had just 35% all around because I'm getting tired of having to roll my windows down when a cop drives by.
Not too long ago, I got pulled over for the tint because I was approaching a 4-way intersection and a cop rolls to a stop on the street to the right. As we all know, our windows don't roll down that fast and it was halfway down as I passed him up. Luckily, he let me go and just told me to get it removed. I still got the tint on(as well as taillight tint) and still haven't been given a ticket for it, thank God.

I got pulled over JUST for that (my windows were rolled down) and he also got me for tinted windows (made me roll them up). The tinted tail lights are NOT a fix-it ticket and are gonna cost me ~300 bucks.
