Just looking quickly, this is at the place where I got my car from. The miles are kinda high for my taste though.

screw looking, u gotta drive something that'll smack your face [with performance] and comfort your ass [with a warranty] at the same time to get you to make an objective decision, not one based only on sentimental devotion.

promise yourself that you'll drive the next 5 cars you see on a lot here and there that you think might fit. then if you still don't want to throw in the towel, you'll know you it's the WW for life and that you made the right decision, b/c you'll have tried the other options and found that there's nothing that does it better for you.

I thought you had you tranny fixed already. if it isn't working properly, take it back and make them fix it. It's their responsibilty to do the job right the first time...even if you did beat on it, you shouldnt have these issues.

Do you seriously think BMW offer good warranties..whateva..Get a 5 series and when youre stuck on the side of the road cause your dash caught fire or your power steering stopped working..I wont say I told you so..the only 5 I would buy is a 540i 6spd or M5

there's always next tuesday, for me stale-ass numbers
you'll find 'the one', buzz, but it's in the drive, not the look. CL is a love-at-first-sight car; it's probably not gonna be that way with something else if you decide to move on -- let's face it: frankly, i dont think there's anything out there that looks as good as a hot CL for any reasonable money. but go mash some pedals, remember what it feels like to get butterflies, without racing someone, but just from driving.
i wouldn't say to anyone, 'hey, dump that 1st gen,' -- not for any reason, but consider:
i was a lot like you:
1. tranny rebuild that i didn't have much faith in -- 2gs dangling by a thread.
2. money on 'little' things that fail on a hi-mile car: 300 here for brakes, 150 there for burnt cat, 100 there for p/s pump, etc, etc.
3. i'm the kinda guy who NEEDS reliable tranportation; downtime for any reason is bullshit and costs me mad dough.
4. i was in love with my cl. i washed and waxed it to a mirror the day i went to trade it, knowing it wouldn't make a shit difference in trade $$, but just outta respect. my eyes actually welled up a little on our last drive -- i swear she never ran better than that day, like she was trying to hold on to me, lol. i put a lot of elbow into that car, and i'm proud that it left me 100% cleaner/better than i got it 40K prior -- tough to let that work go.
5. 'little' problems mounting up.
6. sick of seeing the tailz of all sorts of crap.
*7. plus, my car took a hit, so car's general life expectancy dropped for me.

with that said, i'll tell you my new ride puts the same grin on my face 6 months later as it did on day one. i'm not waving a sube flag here at all -- like you said, you're a coupe man -- just saying it's possible to fall in love with something new for different reasons. we all want you to win, no matter which way you decide.

duluoz: thanks man, i feel you on all of that.my eyes well up at the though of letting her go.i wish i could take at hit at this point, would make my like alot easier another. MAJOR reason is insurance is gonna kill me on a newer car, plus a car note. she already killed my $$$ flow.now a new STOCK car is gonna kill the rest of it. I HATE STOCK!!!and a car will have to stay stock for a while.the cl is like the only car i didn't get tired of after 3 months.over a year and she has only gotten better.(look wise)i feel you on the performace aspect though.i just hate starting from scratch when i'm so close to having her just the way i want..

i thought so, too. you'd be surprised. newer cars with high safety ratings buy cheaper ins. prolly only spike like 20$/month. -1 excuse

True for the 5 and 7 series. The 3's are more reliable.

Exactly why I got rid of mine really and plus I needed more room. I needed to replace my master and slave cylinder on my clutch, timing belt, full tune up and some body work, so I said to myself all the money I'll be putting into a 9 yr old car with 100K+ miles I can use on a down payment for something more reliable and haven't looked back since. I still think the CL looks nice but I refused to break my bank on an old car that's why my motor was completely stock.
