For a while i really hated my car because all of all the shit that was going wrong with it. Now that i got my sub fixed and some other stuff good ive decided to keep it until the end of college. After that its not question a BMW.

I figured out that I'm one of those people that when I get out on my own, steady job etc, I'd probably lease my cars for 2 years and return them for something new. I get bored really easily.
Although when I do something with the car (like installing brakes myself) or even something trivial and simple (intake), it makes me have a new appreciation for the car again and keeps me satisfied. Now if I could start and finish the subbuzz + doublesh0t hybrid machine, that would really make me appreciate my car.

i actually want to have 2 1st gens. one black and a resurrection of my 1st cl, a titanium metallic one, both with extensive motor work, but the T.M. one will be more for show.

...i will keep CL's from now definitely for a while...until i can pick up the 997GT3RS in about 25 years...
my CL will have about 250000 miles by then too lol. the reliability alone matched with rareness, decent speed, etc will keep me in a CL...-->
[BTW I just clicked here from the home CL forum screen, just saw its 1st gen...prob doesnt matter tho]

never going to get rid of the cl. I going to put it up like blackack. I just seen a bmw 1 series and they are hot and they might be in my price range starting at just 30,000

My 3.0 has cost me a lot of money; however, I only say that because I compare it to friends' cars and thos that my parents have owned. I guess, in the scheme of things, even though I've had a lot of problems ( mostly those that users here experience ), I still love the car. Now that it's having tranny problems and with the previously unfixed problem of leaking coolant.
Most of my problems would have been covered under warranty at the time, if the car were not Canadian. The acura rep at the dealership said it would transfer, but either he didn't know or lied...so, that kinda puts a bad taste in my mouth with Acura. So, might go for a Jetta if the cost of fixing it is over half of the blue book value. But I tell you, it would definitely be bittersweet to get rid of it.
I'm also getting sick of a coupe. I guess, on the up side, when I go on long trips with friends they never want to take my car

Dude, if you are upset with the problems and cost of owning a CL, Jetta should be the last word to come from your mouth!!

As much as I love my CL, I know it won't last me forever and eventually I'll have to upgrade. I'm waiting for Alfa Romeo to come back to the US in '09 and I'm buying a Brera. It won't be nearly as reliable as my Ack, but it's a stunningly gorgeous car. Besides, my tranny will probably go out around the time I get my Brera anyways.

Been a great car and loved having mine but I have started looking at getting rid of it pretty soon. Having the 3.0 and 110k miles I feel lucky I havent had tranny issues yet. The CL is the everyday car and I plan on soon having kids so will have to upgrade to a 4 door. Thinking a G8 at the moment but it may be a few more months befire I really start shopping. The legacy GT is also on my list but I need something with more low end power and I havent driven a Legacy yet but I expect with a Turbo for that to be an issue.

on the other hand, let's consider:
sure, v6 g8 =
but,
g8 gxp = vette powertrain, 402 ft-lbs stock.
that means some bolts, tune, d/r's = living 12s, and hunting 11s on the weekends in your sedan -- add 100 shot and go back in time. for the cost, i think it's well worth a look if power is your thing.
not saying there arent 11 sec lgts, but better bring that checkbook.
most comfortably modded dd lgts live 13s, hunt for 12s.
milage all depends on your foot with a boosted 4 -- i get about 21 avg mpg probably similar to the g8 gt, and a bit better than the gxp.

The CL doesnt get much better than that anyway and I cant imagine the Legacy does either and it will take premium fuel (even though that cost is minimal)
Maybe I am wrong but isnt the Legacy GT rated at about 240 hp and torque. I shoud have said I was looking at the v8 version not the V6 version but even the v6 version has almost 300 torque.

I had a 98 accord and I liked that car so much better than I do the CL. I think I am going to end up keeping the CL and getting an 02 accord 3.0

Low and Slow
Just read an article about the new Nissan GT-R in Road and Track mag.
480 bhp / 434 lb.-ft torque
0-60 in 3.4 sec
1/4 mile in 11.8 sec
All for an estimated price that's below a new Z06 Vette (around $73,000).
I'll take one of those.

Three Wheelin'
This EGR valve CEL makes me want to sell the car every time I get in it.
As long as the CL continues to run, I'll keep it around. The car has basically everything you need to make for a comfortable DD. Sometimes I want to lower it with wheels but I like the way the car rides, so it will probably always stay stock.
I have the Civic for HPDE's and now the Turbo Regal for weekend cruising and trips down the 1320.

I love her then hate her and love her again even deeper mannnn.
As you can see I have been on this Forum longer that most you cats and if you have been here as long as me you prolly moved on to a TL.
This car has done so much for me. I have beated this car up so bad and it still throws that back at me strong.
The only major thing i have done is replace the tranny. (2-3 years ago still punching her to 4200 rpms) shifts real good.
Plus its a 2.2 L this shit runs like a hybrid. I drive for miles and the gas meter don't flintch. I guess for you guys with the V6 feel diff.
Thanks for the 97 2.2 premium baby. Oh yeah the other day somebody said thats a 97? NO way !!!!!

The CL has been great to me, way better than my first car (89 accorx lx-i) The mileage on the CL has been great until I got all of my bolt ons, now because of the sound it makes when I get on it, I waste gas like its my job haha.
However, I, like Honu posted before, would like to get an 03 CLS-6 next, that would be fantastic.
I'd also really like an STI, the sound of that boxer engine with a 3" just gets me everytime.
