Will 225/50/16's fit???

I have a 97 CL with the stock suspension setup and stock wheels.

Seems like they will be OK on the rims but I am wondering about the wheelwells.

Thanks

why would u want 225s? it will look bad especially if ur not dropped. youlll have a 4x4 looking cl. even 215s look big on our cars especially with the wrong offset on aftermarket rims

The tires are in my basement and I am on a tight budget. Getting married next month. They are less than 1" wider and with the lower profile I thought they might work.

they are the correct overall diameter if that is what you are asking, they wont look pretty but they will work. They really need a rim that is atleast 7 inches wide.

i wouldn't do it if i was you, our stock tires are 205/55 right? with 225/50, the sidewall won't be any smaller or more low profile if that's what you're thinking. the 55 and 50 is just a percentage of the width of the tire not an actual measurement of the sidewall, so in essense, 225/50, will be nearly identical to 205/55. also, a 225 width tire probably definitly won't fit right on our stock 16's. they're just too skinny, i'm not saying it can't be put on.. i've seen some weird things.. like a 225 stretching onto an 8.5 wheel (it looked really funny... if you've seen it, you'd know what i was talking about). just stick with the stock tire size, if you're looking to decrease the wheelwell height, lower the car.
