Why the hell am I getting 15mpg?

Seriously, I pumped 6 gallons of gas into my 3.0 when the gas light was on. Then drove 90 miles until the gas light came on yet again. Why on earth am I getting 15mpg and not driving an SS? BTW, my car is a 98 3.0 and is bone STOCK. No nitrous, no intake, just a plain Cl with an affinity for $2.00/gal gas (in Texas no less).

I don't believe how much gas prices have increased...especially in Texas. I'm filling up my tank each week with 20 bucks worth of gas, and I'm not driving too much. I have no idea why.

Something must be up with the fuel system. I'm thinking maybe the fuel filter, the injectors, or maybe the engine needs a nice SeaFoam cleaning.

Any ideas?

that doesnt seem right. even when i drive my car hard i still get about 16mpg then on the highway i get about 31. you should be gettign at least 250+ miles to a tank. 300 would seem average. I can easily get 400+ miles on the highway @75-80 mph

I'll tell u through experience why u gettin less...there's a clog at or around your intake manifold, and/or got somethin to do with ur egr valve...same happend to mine...got 10-13mpg, got it all fixed then went back up to normal mpg....acutally now i'm pushin close to 30 mpg on a 3.0, without a heavy foot

How can I get rid of this clog? Where do I look?

Also, is it the EGR valve that is replaced under recall, because I forgot what is supposed to be replaced.

you should lower your car , better mileage that way!! less wind resistance.

lowering usually gives you worse gas mileage

I get about 330 on a tank before the light comes on

and yes the recall was on the EGR
