Where's the thermostat on the 3.0?
I spent time searching last night but I couldn't find anything definitive about where the location of the thermostat is. Anyone know cause I think mine is fucked up and I want to replace it today.

Thanks I found it already. That's where I thought it was, now the question is now that I got the housing off and can see the thermostat how do I get it out? It's stuck in there. How do I break the seal of the gasket?

Ok I replaced the thermostat. I had to yank it out with pliers but I'm still having overheating problems. I took it down to a mechanic and had them look at it and it seems as if both the fans aren't coming on unless the AC is on. Usually one of the fans should turn on with the AC and the other should turn on and off intermittently depending on the temperature of the engine but it's not, it's not turning unless the AC is on. They think it's a lazy relay switch, so I'm going to have them look at it more tomorrow. Also my serpentine belt is about to break, it seems as if my alternator maybe crooked a little and that's causing the serpentine belt to get premature wear on the outer edge. I'm getting that replaced too before that causes major damage.
Needless to say I'm not going anywhere tonight so, PARTY AT MY HOUSE!!

The fan switch is on the thermostat housing also. Take a wire and short the two pins on the connector with the ignition switch on. If the fans come on, replace the thermoswitch. If they don't, further troubleshooting is needed.

Still haven't figured out why both the fans aren't coming on without the AC being on, we replaced the relays and the temp sensors. We think it's the wiring but we don't know how you can screw that up since there's only one way to do it. We've determined that the engine is NOT overheating and we're getting a false reading from the temp gauge. We used one of those laser thermometers to measure temp and it never got over 190, I was able to keep my hand on top of the engine block without being burned, the radiator was never steaming or anything, all this even though the temp was reading past the red. Found out that the alternator pulley lip is bent in (we're blaming it on the wreck I was in a few months ago) and it's chipping away at the belt, I should get that replaced tomorrow.

i really hope it works out for you bro. during my 100k service last year, i asked for my thermostat to get changed and they never did it. a week later, i had a gaping hole in my radiator, my car overheated and i blew my head gasket. needless to say i thought i was going to be buying a new car, but my dad ended up telling the dude to just fix it when i wasn't around. cost me over 2g's to have them replace something i requested after the fact and have my shit rebuilt. i was pissed. now i'm stuck with the bitch for at least another year. could have been part of the down payment on the new car i've been dreaming of
