When does Vtech Kick IN?

It's VTEC (Variable valve Timing and Electronic lift Control... V-Tech makes cordless phones

I had the 3.0, so I'm not sure if it's the same as the 2.2 / 2.3, but on the 3.0 I'm pretty sure that it kicked in at 3800 rpm. I had an intake myself, so I could hear that sweet sound every time!!
