When does Vtec kick in?

AtlCl is the right its 4300, for those of you who have been fortunate enough to blow out your vtec solenoid like myself, then you would know that if you hit 4300 without your vtec youd stop making power and you couldnt go past 4300 rpms.

You guys are confusing two very different engines. The 3.0 on the first gen and the 3.2 on the Type S are very different engines. The S can rev higher and that is why vtec kicks in at 5200 rpm. Our car does not rev as high and that is why vtec kicks in lower at around 4300 rpm. Think about it, peak hp occurs at 5500rpm, it would be kind of stupid to have vtec for only 300rpm before peak hp.
5K was what my 5Gen civic SI would kick in but it redline at 7200. But i think the CL is ~3K and you can really feel it at 3K. The engine redline at 6K so if the vtec was in at 5K you only enjoying 1K of VTEC that would suck. I think its around ~3K
saying vtec kicks in at 5k is obsurd. Our engine red line at 6.5k or something.. whats the point of vtec then ?
i think mine kicks in at around 4.. maybe coz i master vtec too well ! ha ha.
ABout Rev, there is a limiter around 5k.. so i can't go over 5k.

VTEC engagement varies with throttle position, load, water temp, and rpm.
It does not have one setting unless you have a VTEC controller.
My VAFC shows when VTEC is trying to engage with the ecu signal...its always different.
