Wheel fitment ?

Switching wheels again. Sold my gold sportmax 962's and got a like new set of 18" Motegi Sp5's with like new tires.

The offset is 40 and thought no problem fitting. The front rims rub on the caliper bracket slightly. I need 1/8 inch max to give enough room. Should I machine a bit off the caliper brackets or search for some thin spacers. Plus whats everyones thoughts on spacers?

Pics will be up soon as the wheels are on.
One more question.
When the rear wheels are on and the car is on jack stands the tires barely touches the upper control arm. When on the ground I have 3/8 or so clearance. Is this anything to be concerned with. I dont think I will ever be airbourne with my CL anytime soon.
I dont want to use spacers in the back because the tire just clears the fender lip now and I really dont want to roll my fenders.

New rims on finally

I made my own .10 inch aluminum spacers that were hubcentric and fit he lugs perfectly.
The front now clear the caliper bracket.
After I put them on the car the rear were rubbing on the upper control arm.
There are some ugly rough castings that I removed and cleaned up with an angle grinder. Now the tires clear nicely. Only an occasional rub on the rubber fender moulding.
The front tires are 225 45 18 and the rear are a whopping 255 35 18.
I dont recommend this size for the rear but they will do for now.
I will probably get some 225 40 18's for the front and move the front I have now to the rear later.
