My stock CD changer (Alpine) doesn't work sometimes. It shows E-1 on the LCD screen. What I do is I just pull out the cartridge, put it back in, and it works?

What's wrong? Is it the lens? Maybe it's dirty?

 

I just bought my '98 3.0CL a month ago with the changer from a local acura dealer. Right away I was getting E-1 errors on the display and the only way to fix it was to reset the magazine like you describe. I also noticed that it only seemed to happen if I turned off the car while playing a cd from the changer. When I would turn the car back on the display would read E-1... have you observed this? The manual just says "mechanical failure". I took it back to the dealer and they replaced it no questions asked, since the car was still under the factory warranty.
