eliminate the bose system completly, or leave it alone. If you add an aftermarket deck and keep the stock speakers and amp, you're not going to be doing much for yourself.
Basically, bypass or remove every part of the bose stereo.

i put a system in my car, and bought the transformer...it has like four wires, two connect to the speakers, one ground and one power. it delays the sub/amp like 5 seconds until power kicks in through the speakers, at which point it allows the amp to turn on...the delay on mine is so small you cant really tell its there...i dunno how that works into puttin a tv/dvd but i paid $40 for mine at a local sound works shop

I forgot to ask... are you adding this to your car, like a screen and seperate dvd player, or are you looking at a flip-out deck to replace the bose deck?
FM Modulators sound like crap, as they are limited to the sound quality of the tuner... so your dvd movies will sound like the radio.

Your installer is probably talking about a blitzsafe adapter, lets you use the Cd changer input for an aux input. It could be $90 without a hookup. It's not a transformer tho. Some of the guys are comfusing what you are doing (trying to hook into the stock radio) with using the stock radio with additional amps, etc. In reality you shouldn't need a transformer, hi-lo convertor, or FM modulator for either of those - even if you have the stock CD changer.

ok...this is getting WAY too confusing...heres my setup...
Indash 7" LCD Tv popout w/ FM/AM
Indash DVD/MP3/(singleCD) Unit
Stock Acura Bose Speakers
Fosgate Amp W/ 2 12" subs...
NOW......the guy said that when you hook up a new headunit or tv to my stock speakers, (i think this is only for bose) you need some $90 transformer or something so that the OEM speakers still work...does ANYONE know what hes talking about??

Alright I understand your setup now. So you want to use your new headunit (dvd/or w/e) with the factory bose setup, right? The factory Bose setup feeds off line level outputs from the stock CD player. You need a cable harness that plugs into the factory harness, and gives you the 4 RCAs to plug into your radio. Sometimes this makes alternator whine, so an electronic preamp is installed inline to keep the noise down and also allow you to tailer the volume of the factory amp to match the radio. Both of those units are available from http://www.linkmeup.com/. You do need a headunit tho that has 3 pre-outs, F,R,&Sub. Your dealer probably wants you to buy something similar from the company he sells, most likely something by AAMP. So, $90 isn't bad, just check out what the unit does. You do not want something that has anything to do with converting the speaker outputs of your new radio.

Will it be difficult to completely remove the Bose system? Also if anyone can give me the speaker sizes for the stock system, I'd really appreciate it. I want to know if they're big enough to produce good bass because I don't wanna put in any subs, I wanna keep the weight down.

I know about the insane bass, but I don't think I need it on that kind of level. I'm looking for the kind of bass that good 6*9s give. I'm looking to get an alpine head deck, speakers and maybe a 4 channel amp to drive them.
