Whats a fair/decent price for timing belt?

hello again ..

well last service and radiator replacement mechanic said he hears a slight sound and i might need to replace timing belt next month...

whats a decent.fair price for that???
just curious before i arrange dropping car off etc

when was the last time you had it changed? if it was recently then it might just need adjusting.

I paid a grand for my TB, that's about average. I've seen places do it for a lot less if you buy your own parts

Or do it yourself I just did the one on my audi myself. Parts are around 200-300

btw...
im out of miami...hes the same mechanic who did my tranny and replaced the last timing belt a few years ago...
said it would cost me somewhere in the 300-ish range...
sometimes i wish i was a mechanic so i can fix all this sh!t myself...

Yoo, not sure though I took mine to the stealership and ran me 400.00 parts + labour and a piece of mind that they knew what they were doing!

my brother in law works at the honda stealership. he got me the TB, water pump, BS belt, new BS seals, coolant flush and fill, both accessory drive belts and new plugs for 378 installed.

^dang, sounds like they just charged for parts and no labor!
But in general, getting something like the timing belt done is pretty much the only thing I take my cars to the dealership for. And it usually runs around a grand but at least you know they will do it right, and for something as important as a timing belt, I want the best service possible. I would do it myself but I always hear about horror stories.. Oh well, got a timing chain now so I don't have to worry about timing belt shenanigans :p
