What would you do??

Engine and trans still strong. 1997 Acura CL 3.0 155k miles
Nasty rust over rear passenger wheel. Interior clean and solid.

Front suspension is shot. I need to replace the shock and struts. My car squeaks like my bed in highschool on every turn, bump and even getting out of it.

I have gotten estimates ranging from $600 -$1000. Would you guys do the repair, drive it until it blows up as is, or something else??

Engine and tranny still strong? Buy coilovers and a bushing kit and drive it till the wheels fall off...or the tranny fails lol.

I too have the passenger side wheel well rust. Have been quoted 450 and that's cutting it out and welding a new peice + paint. I have 188000 and I plan on fixing mine.

Just replace the suspension and get some polyurithane bushings to stop the squeek. My Z squeeked a lot when I first got it but after I replaced the bushings with engergy suspension polyurithane bushings the squeek stopped and the ride felt so much nicer.

i'm gonna try to fix myself this summera and then repaint the whole car, since i already repainted the hood, door, and fender, so it'll prolly look better..

Does anyone know if there a quick strut available for the 97 cl?? I priced out parts for the suspension and holy crap. $300 for springs, $200 for struts and $ 200 for shocks. ouch. I dont mind riding stock it makes it super easy to change my oil. no jack or stands required.

YEa as said fix it with coil overs n bushings fix the rust only if it really bothers you. And drive it till the tranny fails then get something better. Thats what I did tranny went out sold it for what I could get and got a better car.

Recommendations then for which coilovers to get?? Not going racing so dont need anything extreme. and a website that may carry them cheaper than the rest??
And should I be looking at coilovers for the CL or for the 94-97 accord??

thanks for your input in advance.

I'm betting that the squeakiness is from more than just your shocks/springs. I would suspect that your bushings are starting to degrade.
