What went wrong???

I have a strange problem which I can't figure out. My last three tankfulls resulted in 1: 39.5MPG 2: 40.7MPG 3: 44.7MPG.
I usually get good mileage, 34-37MPG range but this is too good, afraid to burn a piston. There are no missfires, plenty of power, and engine smooth as silk.

This is a 99CL 2.3 with 5speed. 25K miles on the engine. The temp has been 100+ here and altitude between 4500Ft and as high as 9000Ft.

Smoky the bewildered

i believe the odometer runs off the speedometer. so if your speedometer is inaccurate, so will your odometer. new, smaller tires maybe?

SNL: I frequently travel 500mi before having to fill up on a trip.tho I don't like to drive below a quarter tank.

P Man: Stock tires everything is stock. I was only driving at 60 to 65MPH trying to take it easy but this is almost too good.

Don't know it it makes a difference but it is an early 99 with the analog speedo.
