what size tweeters

what size tweeters fit into the stock location (near the windshield)?

if I am getting a 4 channel amp should I run the tweeters off the amp as well?

pretty much any dome tweeter from most component systems will fit there. There is just a strap that goes around the back of the tweeter and is held on by 2 screws. What are you planning to do?? put in all new speakers? dont run the stock speakers off an aftermarket amp, it will be too much power for the wimpy little things.

Pretty much any size component tweeter will work... if You are running components.... you can run each tweeter on the same channel as the mid (6.5 in the door) Meaning, you only need 2 channels to power the components, you can use the other 2 channels to power the 6x9s in the rear...

dont waste ur money and buy after market tweets and put em in the stock location ...

they should be no more than 6-8 inches from the mid for the best sound quality ... all they do is bounce around off the windshield up there

I put in Infinity Reference series component speakers, and I believe the tweeter was 1". I powered my stock component speakers with my 1400 watt amp for several months before installing the Infinity components. Although the sound quality was lacking, they handled just fine.

i am...

...planning on changing all the six speakers. I'm putting 4 full range MB Quart's for now (no subs). I already have them so no components for now. I need to decide what amp to get, and if I can hook up after market tweeters to them.

And I can hear my stock tweets all the time (I like high treble in my music) and they seem OK, I'm sure I can get better ones and I am scared of giving them any more juice esp from the amp.

Whats the big deal about components anyway?

Just leave the stock tweeters in there, and keep them hooked up. They actually sound really nice when there is more power going to them. When you get your amp, just make sure it can handle 2 ohms stereo at least... which means to basically steer clear of cheaper amps. A good amp will run about $1 per watt. Components give you better sound quality because there is basically more to them... better crossovers (or in most cases, a crossover period instead of a cap), much better tweeters and woofers which can handle more power and put out cleaner sound.
