Exclamation what rotors to get: Brembo blanks or Raybestos??

I was wondering what are good rotors and pads setup to get.
I was planning on getting Brembo Blanks + PBR semi-metalic pads, or someone suggested Raybestos rotors?, also alot talk about some green pad??

I drive a 99 Acura Cl 2.3

Also I know many here suggest rotoas because of the group buy, but i live in toronto, On Canada so i think the shippin + duty will kill me..n i don't know maybe its a hype?.

And the cross-drilled vs slotted issue? im not racer once in a while i might get a little aggressive..so is cross drilled the best way to go..

Please give me some direction....

I'm rolling Brembo blanks all around with EBC Greenstuff bads. Not bad, but the pads fade a little earlier than I would have liked.

I would go with slotted rotors, dont have to worry about the cracks that you can sometimes get with the drilled holes. Im not sure how crazy the shipping would be, but PM the vendor excelerate, he hooked it up with my rotora slotted fronts and they're been great so far

Thanks, I was going to post the same question for my 2003 CL-S. I have Powerslots (pre-Cryo) on the front and I think they're warped already.. and the rears are stock & toast so looking to mainly replace those.

For what it's worth I had great luck with the Akebono pads. Available at Tirerack.

I'd def. recommend slotted over drilled & plain.

I have defiantly made up my mind for slotted over drilled. Now
I read that the Brembo wraps (blanks) and i know they don't make slotted for our year. so any other rotors for a 99 cl 2.3?

any one have experiences PBR pads?

P

i pm ecelerate just waiting for a quote...

as blackack said less brake dust with ceramics. Semi metallic pads will produce more brake dust and have a tendency to squel vs ceramic... I think I had PBR ultimate ceramics or something of that sort, I got rid of my 1st gen over a year and half ago, needed another gear to shift into lol... just look for PBR/Axxis there both the same company.

I don't want to hear about it.... I had to take my baby to the shop.

Anyway, I have brembo "replacement" rotors at Tirerack Which are not slotted/drilled. I'm just a cruiser that screws around every once and a while and theyv'e worked out great. Got them with some Hawk ceramic pads. My complaint is that the rotor hubs rust though.... and here in St. Louis, it rains a lot...

The pads will work well with either of the 2 rotors its more of a question of what rotors people are running, answer to that is brembo or rotora... it's getting into no name cheapy rotors that you would really worry about warping or cracking, just make sure you break them in properly. And yes we know you have a 1st gen as I have told you I had them on my 97 two two.

I report: you Decide (yeah like fox news)

after some price hunting here is what i'm looking at for rotors. All prices are in Canadian and include all 4 rotors.....................drum roll please

1) Brembo crossed drilled and slotted: $210

2) Rotora slotted only: $360

3) Brembo slotted only: $130+shippings say $50: $180

4) PowerSlot slotted only: $360

__________________________________________________ ____________

Which one should i should get. I don't mind spending a few bucks if I know there are good lasting rotors.

Thanks P

fwiw I'm considering these.. the "premium" line. Out the door, set of 4 slotted/drilled, plus ceramic pads are $330. Plus another $15 for the rear shoes. Not sure where the '99 compares but these seem pretty well made. But I think you would be okay with the Brembos too.

Do you want more pics like the one above or something else? I have other ones where they are in the box, and one rotor only. I can go down to 115-120 for them. where you located by the way? If shipping a lot I'll probably lower it.

Can you take pics of the orginal. The picture you posted up was cross n slotted. I thought your rotors were only slotted?

Are these brand new? coz you mentioned 'in the box' not sure what that means

Thanks

I can take more pics of them when I get home if you want. Sorry I guess they are cross n slotted. Yup they are brand new I got them from another member on here. They are in the box because that is the way that I got them from him. I haven't touched them since I got it from him.

From what I remember when i purchased mine at that time brembo never manufactured a cross drilled/slotted rotor, either cross drilled or slotted never a combo of the 2. If they are "brembo" cross/slotted rotors one of the two was independently machined thus compromising the integrity of the rotor...further prone to cracking or warping. correct me if I'm wrong
