What percent tint on a white car should I get?

Yeah, yeah...another tint question...

I have decided to get bronze as oppose to charcoal or black, but now I need to decide on 35% or 20%.

Safety is an issue, I don't want to NOT be able to see anything behind me, but obviously with any tint there will be some slight decrease in visibility.

I don't wanna hear, "Get 5%." I think that looks good only on dark cars. Otherwise it looks ghetto.

Oh, and any opionions on 3m brand? The tint shop I picked out only has this brand.

Thanks guys

I will deffinitely get the same percentage all around. I don't like the look of it being lighter in thee front.

Yeah, actually I live in Washington, although I spend most of my days in Oregon, but I'm not concerned with legality. I'm more concerned with visibility, but still look good. I thought you could only

Is 35% dark enough? I see cars driving around with the perfect shade, but I can't ask them what shade it is

with 25%, won't that make it closer to 20% with the factory window polarization thing? I think that's what I'm going to try to get. But I thought they were only in certain increments, no?

5% tint all around is stupid

1. cops can spot it easily
2. its useless at night
3. why?

get 20%....it's not too dark, and it still makes it perfect so people can't see inside.

http://home.comcast.net/~9delipy/car/

that is 20% on my acura

It's hard to tell from the pic, but 20% looks pretty dark. Then again, I have light interior, so it should look lighter than it really is, yes?

Metalic tint is out since most places here don't do it, plus we have a black border around our windows that will kinda clash with the metalic.

Thanks for all the help guys. I'm leaning more towards 25-30% now.

Yeah it'll be a little lighter since you have light interior. I had charcoal interior, so everything kinda blended.

My friend has 15% with tan interior on a white CL, and it looks normal. I thought it was lighter than 15%, but 15% looked nice. So I'm guessing 20% would be almost the same since its only 5% more light.

why would 5% look ghetto on a white car, i think the contrast looks good. I wouldnt go with that dark of a percentage though. Check my www, i have 25 in the rear and 35 sides, im thinking of getting my fronts tinting 35% sometime in the future too

If you have a tan interior, 20% looks just like 35% on a dark interior car. Even though it looks the same, it's still 20% when looking through it at night. I just can't stand 35% though - it looks like you barely tinted the car with a tan interior - might as well not even waste the money.

And shade of bronze looks 1000x more ghetto than 5% charcoal/black. Any dark charcoal/black looks great on a white car. The silvery tint looks sharp too, I've been thinking about it lately.

Most, if not all, things with the 3M name on them are great products.

now i have 20% with black interior it looks great.

keep in mind getting tint with light interior will look lighter.

Yeah, I'm starting to rethink the bronze. I've seen some that look really nice, looks black, but in the light you can see a slight bronze tint. Then I've also seen tint that looks like nasty brown crap. Does it only look good if it's super dark? The SUV's and stuff come that way and it looks good, but it's also way dark. I've seen a new CRV with bronze tint that wasn't too dark and it looked real nice, not doo dooey.

So, now I'm pretty sure I'm going to get 20%...or 25%. I just don't know what shade to get now. I don't want one that has a blue hue. I've seen some that look grey that look nice. Blue hue looks cheap.

i would do 35% all around, for 1 its legal and it dont take real dark tint to make a white color car look hot.

Sometimes dark tint makes the car look not as nice. Looks good on sportiER cars like a prelude or something, but the CL has some class and I don't want to take that away.

EDIT: :gheywave: I own page two (of my own thread )

Gonna have to disagree with you on this one. Purple hue = teh cheapness = nasty dyed shit tint.

Mercedes tints (actually dips) their top cars' window's a light shade of blue. I've always felt a light blue was very classy. Obviously something like a deep royal blue would be ghetto (bout the same for any color). I've actually been thinking about doing a slight blue (slight blue dark black that is hehe) b/c I love how it looks. My sunglasses have a slight blue tint - I really like the cooler color temp.

^^^ werd most higher end cars have their side mirrors slightly blue tinted as well. I think it helps in deflecting uv rays

I love the Mercedes tint, but I'm talking about dark blue. I wish I could get my windows to look like the Mercedes as well as the side mirrors.

I'm going there today to check out the shop, his workmanship, and pick out a tint. I hope he does good work.

I went there yesterday and I'm either gonna go with 35% or 50%. The 20 just seemed too dark. Also, what's your opinions on charcoal or black tint? I also ruled out the bronze. Looked nasty.
