hello again all..

well recently i saw my 99 cl 2.3 was leaking oil...got worse over the last week so had it looked at by a mechanic..
he said he found something leaking and when he took off the top of the part he saw the plastic liner part had a crack in it...
the pic here is of the part the top part with the cracked plastic piece was attached too...i dont have the part with the broken little plastic part or id take a pic of that too..does it seem correct that whatever this part is ,is the cause of my oil leak??and to make matters worse he called me and said he cant just get the plastic part cause they dont sell it like that but need the entire piece..which is over 150...if i could just replace the plastic rubber bit probably only cost 2 bux

i belive that is for the v-tech solenoid.

and it looks exactly like the part he showed me...
what does this part do and could it really be the cause of my oil leak?

 

after much googling i found the gasket # is 15825-P0A-015...
VTEC spool valve gasket
some acura dealership were really pushing to go out and buy a new piece all together (go figure) when all i really needed was this gasket (7 bux)

i also read someplace that even some RTV silicone could of worked (not sure but thats what i read)

yes it could cause an oil leak because if the oil pressure isn't right the vtec will not kick in so it has to have oil passing through it. On the 3.0 its right next to the oil filter and I wasn't sure that was what this was because I have never seen what it looks like on the 2.3 engines

 

On the F23's that middle gasket isn't sold and I've read that it's different in size from the one for the F22 which is sold.

 

mechanic just put it in this morning..all seems good and it fits...(so far)...will report back if anything changes..
also found out some other issues which ill ask about here later today...
