you should try to do it and find out. 
but you hit the limit in 4th gear and your engine will cut off unless you take out the chip or whatever it is yeah govener chip. But I am assuming the 2.3 can go like 135-140? we do hit 100 in 3rd with 2 gears to go.

i'm usually too focused on the rpms i hardly look at the mph when i shift.
