I used to put in ONLY premium when I first got my car new...for two years straight. And then I started puttin in some regular when the gas prices started going up and the car does seem to be more powerful with the regular?? Been using regular ever since, saves me money and seems to make my car faster=)

The low compression doesn't require anything over 87, anything higher results in an unefficient burn and/or desposits. Higher the compression, more prone to detonation....so the higher the compression (be it static compression from the piston, or dynamic from forced induction/n20) the lower the ignition point of the fuel required hence higher compression motors need higher octane fuel.

I have always thougth that the light was burt out or something, so i filled up everytime i got to E but this time i had Zero cash so i could fill up so i had to wait all day.

OK I use 93 So everyone who uses anything lower. Fill up with your gas, get a full tank and see how many miles you get until it is empty then fill up with 93 or 94 and see how many more miles you get with this gas. You will see the difference. You get alot more miles it doesnt burn as fast.

you actually lose power w/ anything above 89. The ecu isn't set to use a higher burning octane. Some magazine did a octane test. And a v6 accord lost 10 HP w/ 92 compared to 87. IT would also explain why i lost about 10-15 HP on a dyno when i ran 100 octane. The only reason any of us should be using 91 and up is if you are running forced induction, or have your ECU remapped

and also, if your car can't burn the fuel fast enough it just clogs up in the engine. Our car cannot burn 92 octane fast enough and it builds up and can cause damage to the engine after time. Car's w/ a high compression like the Type R however need higher octane.
Caalifornia just got rid of 92 octane and switched to 91 cause 91 burns cleaner and is more efficient.

ok i was filling my car with a 89 octane and today i tried filling it up with a 87 octane. ok the PROS of it was that i did not feel the lag that i used to get after a complete stop(i would start real slow and all the sudden i feel a fat push and i go normal once again), i accelerated faster. CONS are that my engine makes more noise, it doesnt seem like i picks up enough speed or as fast during the freeway. as for the gas milage i dont know yet.
