my experience in my 99 accord 4cyl that i recently sold i used to use 87 all the time just because it is cheaper, when i first bought it the car was smooth and accelerated fast, then a couple yrs. later and it feels laggy and really slow, then i talked to a mechanic and told him that my car is running slow, found out that my fuel injectors are clogged up becuase of using low octane gasoline, so i got a fuel injection cleaning then filled up 93 octane and omg the car felt a shit load better and faster, felt like it was new again! i can definitely feel the difference. so now i always use 93.

Used mid-grad (89) for years. Then it got a bit high and I reluctantly switched to the cheaper (87). And oddly enough, it actually made no diference in performance. It may have improved, but I have no numbers to back that up. And yeah, it is nice to jip Shell and Haliburton the extra $0.10. 87 is what the manual recomends. I will probably stay with it.

I use the cheap crap. But when my car starts to ping, i throw 1 tank of the expensive crap in there and that gets rid of the pinging.

Speaking of gas, i need to do a tune up this weekend. My gas mileage has gone down. I used to get like 310 miles to a tank, and now I get about 280
